Congratulations to the JV Girls Volleyball team on a great season. After winning the Zone banner last Monday, the JV Girls headed to Brandon to face off against Vincent Massey in the Interzone game. While they played a strong first set against the #4 ranked team, unfortunately it just wasn't our day and Massey took the win. We are so proud of how you came together as a team this season and how much you've grown! Well done, Zods!
JV Girls played a stellar game last night against NPC to take home the Zone 4 Banner! After dominating NPC in set 1 due to their excellent serving and passing, NPC battled back to take the second set. Not being a team to back down from a challenge, our players were mentally tough and fought back to win the 3rd set with excellent communication and hustle. In the 4th set, the girls overcame an 8 point deficit to come back and win! We are so proud of the girls for their hard work, team spirit, and determination. All of these factors resulted in a fast-paced, exciting game and some truly excellent volleyball. Well done, Zods!
- Congrats to the JV BOYS Volleyball team on capturing the Zone 4 banner last night in the Zone Final vs NPC! With several players playing their best games of the season, and clutch players turning the game back in our favour at crucial moments, the match was truly exciting to watch. Well played Zods! Here we come Vincent Massey...
The JV Boys Volleyball team performed very well at the Maples Collegiate tournament this weekend. Following a solid 2 set win to Westwood, the Zods couldn’t quite contain the strong hitting from Jean Sauve (CJS), which put them second in their pool. In the Championship 1/4 finals, the Zodiacs beat Calvin Christian to advance to playing CJS again in the semi finals. This time, however, the Zodiacs managed to win the first set, but once again the tough offence of CJS prevailed and the Zodiacs lost this semi final match. In the end, the strong showing of intensity and character dominated the weekend, two elements that the boys can be proud of!
Congrats to the Varsity Girls Volleyball team for winning their second tournament of the season! They were in St. James on Saturday, where they played 12 sets in 7 hours, winning all 12 sets to go undefeated on the day to take home Gold for GVC! Well done ladies!
The Varsity Girls volleyball team remains undefeated in league play after their 3-set win against Morris last night. Every player chipped in to make it a great team win! Well done Zods!
The Varsity boys volleyball travelled to Altona last night to face the Aces in league play. The Zodiacs had a well rounded victory and won 3 sets to 1. Ryan B lead the charge with 10 kills and strong play in the back court. Ryan B once again dominated the opposition with his serving and was a big presence at the net. A great team victory for the boys! Practice has been cancelled for today.
JV Girls Volleyball team faced a tough opponent in their Altona match yesterday, but they worked hard and played with determination to make it an excellent match. After taking the first set 25-21, our girls went on to lose the next 2 sets 25-22. They pushed hard to come back in the 4th set but fell short to an energetic Miller team. Great serving, passing, and on-the-net play made it a fun game with wonderful team spirit! Special shout-outs to Ally for stepping into the power role with huge success, to Indi for her stellar defensive play (including on the net!), and to all of our excellent servers! Well done, Zods!
The JV Girls took on the Grade 9 Girls volleyball team last night. After a strong start with 2 wins in the first 2 sets, the girls lost some steam and the 9s worked their way back to win the 3rd and 4th sets! The JV Girls pushed through and found the energy and determination to take the 5th set 15-11. A solid team effort all around that featured excellent serving runs, much-improved at-the-net play, and great team coverage! Well done, folks!
The JV1 and JV2 Boys Volleyball teams faced each other in league play last night. Plenty of tough serves on both sides of the court were seen, as well as some terrific setting. It was exciting to see the competitiveness on both sides of the court, and to realize the increasing strength of boys volleyball at GVC. In this match up, the JV1’s were the victors, but both teams look forward to further competition. Well done, boys!
